Description

This form was popularized by the famous Murano, Italy maker Mandruzzato. This example is in a vivid clear bright cobalt blue. The edges are crisp and the crystal is very clear. It is 10½ inches tall. It is made using the sommerso technique — a colored layer of glass encased in clear crystal as visibly indicated in the foot of the vase. It is a square shape at the mouth that expands into a multi-sided shape cut into faceted planes. This design catches the light thereby appearing differently depending on the setting. This is the first one we’ve had in the shop that has sandblasted/frosted panels on every other panel. Very unusual. 3.1 lbs / 1.45 kg of art glass. Undated and unsigned. There’s a manufacturing flaw on the bottom corner of one frosted panel where the sandblasting is incomplete. This is NOT A CHIP although it looks like one in the photo.
