Naval officers, sailors, yacht racers, and commercial fisherman are all familiar with the language of International maritime signal flags. This series of original paintings depicts the entire 26-letter alphabet used by vessels to communicate with each other, since the ocean is a multi-lingual environment. Each of these flags also carry secondary meanings, mostly to do with safety or emergencies. It is quite a fascinating and complex language.
