This form was popularized by the famous Murano, Italy maker Mandruzzato. The edges are crisp and the crystal is very clear. It is 4 inches wide. It is made using the sommerso technique — a purple layer of glass encased in pale gray amber glass as visibly indicated in the base. It is a six-sided shape at the mouth that expands into a multi-sided shape cut into faceted planes. This design catches the light thereby appearing differently depending on the setting. Made in Italy by Royal Gallery. Late 1990s export item. There is a chip on the rim. Priced accordingly.
