This form is called a “Tennis Set.” It features an oversized saucer for a teacup and a snack. It was made for having tea “outside,” such as by the polo field or tennis court. Afternoon tea was commonly served at Wimbledon which did not provide seating or tables. This design was a response to the spectator’s tea-time dilemma. Today, use it for an espresso and a biscotti from Aldo’s, our local coffee bar.

We have a complete set of 12. These are beautifully hand-painted glaze designs in varying shades of orange to red. Spectacular. This version of the pattern has a white handle with a black line. This is an older, more refined style. The later ones had black handles and the painted lines were thicker and sloppier.

Some show signs of wear—crazing and a few spots. None have chips or cracks. Request more photos if you want a full condition report.
