Description

An original polymer painting on canvas by Michael Aron, 2021, titled “Orient NY Beach V.” It depicts an abstracted view of Peters Neck Point and the Peconic River as seen from Orient Beach State Park, in Orient New York at the very tip of the North Fork of Long Island. The overall size is 17×41 as float framed in warm silver with black edges.

This painting’s hard edge abstract style is reminiscent of Vorticism and Futurism. Vorticism was a London-based art movement formed in 1914. My favorite poster artist, Edward McKnight Kauffer, used elements of Vorticism in his work. Futurism was an Italian art movement founded in 1909 by, among others, Fortunato Depero and Giacomo Balla.

Michael Aron studied art and design at the Wooster School in Ridgefield, CT; The Academy for Fine Art and Design in Genk, Belgium; Syracuse University; and got his BFA from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in NYC. He lives in Brooklyn and Greenport and is the proprietor of Ray New York.
