Here we have a vintage (1987) offset lithograph poster depicting a 1960 painting by Max Ernst titled “Ursachen der Sonne” (Effects of the Sun). It was produced in Düsseldorf by the art dealer Helge Achenbach for the exhibit “Collection of European Masters.” This poster is framed in glossy white MDF wood and features gallery acrylic glazing. The overall framed size is 38 × 30 inches.

Max Ernst was a German Dadaist and Surrealist. His experimental attitude toward the making of art resulted in his invention of frottage—a technique that uses pencil rubbings of objects as a source of images.
