This vintage 1950 exhibition poster printed by Mourlot Freres is a lithograph featuring a Matisse cut-out. in black and yellow. The blue lettering is also cut out of paper by Henri Matisse. Unsigned. Sheet size 15¾ × 20 matted in 8-ply museum board, 22 × 27 inches as framed in matte white. “Henri Matisse • Maison de la Pensée Française •••• Chapelle Peintures • Dessins • Sculptures / 2 Rue de l’Elysée / du 6 Jullier all 24 Septembre, 1950 / tous les jours de 10 heures a 17 heures. Mourlot.” Note: this is not a contemporary reproduction. It is a vintage poster with slight age toning and signs of handling. Matisse collaborated with the Mourlot print shop starting in 1937 until his death in 1954. His cut-outs were his last artworks, done with paper from his friend Tériade, founder of the legendary review Verve—another Mourlot collaborator.
