Description

Offered here is a triangular wedge shaped ashtray or trinket dish most likely designed by Flavio Poli or Mandruzzato of Murano in the 1950s. It is unmarked and unlabeled so precise identification is difficult. I’ve seen the same form identified as such so am basing my description on the observation of others here. It is hand made in very heavy crystal with precise crisp edges. Superb.

A local glass blower recently visited my shop and identified this piece as one of his favorites. Apparently this type of wedge-cutting is quite hard.

Dimensions: 5ʺW × 5ʺD × 3.5ʺH
Period: 1950s
Styles: Mid-Century Modern
“Styled After”: Alessandro Mandruzzato
Place of Origin: Italy
Materials: Crystal
Condition Notes: Wear consistent with age. No repairs or cracks. Refer to the photos as they are an integral part of this listing. Hand made pottery and mouth blown glass have irregularities that are part of the artisan’s work and not considered imperfections. This piece has a fleabite on the edge and on the tip of one of the corners. A few scratches on the underside. See detail photo. I truly believe that these flaws do not detract from its presentation or utility. In other words, I would give it as a gift to my father-in-law.
