Description
Sweet gourd shaped hand made vase manufactured by Lapid Pottery Works in Israel. This pale beige collectible has a finely grained structure that contrasts with stylized sgraffito abstract landscape around the corpus of the vase. The art director was Elisabeth Cohen-Silberschmidt, a German immigrant. The objects manufactured at Lapid were hand-painted, mostly by women, as piecework. Signed “Lapid Israel on the bottom.” It measures almost seven inches tall. Very heavy. Black interior. There is a fine crack and a chip on the rim. Priced accordingly.
