This pale beige collectible has a finely grained structure that contrasts with stylized sgraffito abstract landscape design. Manufactured in the 1950s by Lapid Pottery Works in Israel. The art director was Elisabeth Cohen-Silberschmidt, a German immigrant. The objects manufactured at Lapid were hand-painted, mostly by women, as piecework. In order to demonstrate how much money was due, each completed item was signed on the base by the worker. In this case, the dish is signed “Lapid Israel D.” It measures almost four inches x six inches. Mint condition. Would make a perfect soap dish. There is a crumb size bump from manufacture in the glaze. Stamped form #485.
