Description

Willy Leo Bouthoorn Abstract Work On Paper 1957: Willy Leo Bouthoorn (1916 – 2004) was a Dutch abstract expressionist and a member of the New Hague art movement. He had works in a group show at the Guggenheim in 1960. In 1965 he had a solo show at the Gemeentemuseum in Den Haag, The Hague, Netherlands. This museum was important to Bouthoorn. He was one of the founders of the “New Hague” (in Dutch the “Nieuwe Haagse”) School of Art and the Gemeentemuseum was home to several of their group shows. His work really reminds us of Paul Klee.

Signed and dated 1957. 30 x 38 inches in a gold leaf original hardwood frame.
