Murano Signed Carlo Moretti Pale Violet Dish: Signed by the Murano, Italy master craftsman Carlo Moretti (1934-2008). His firm is perhaps the most well-known of the island’s fine glass makers. His legacy continues under the direction of his son Giovanni. The color of this small dish is hard to describe. Purple to pink accents appear in the glass edge, but the overall appearance is clear. This color is derived from a compound in the glass used: Neodymium, sometimes called Alexandrite glass. It has a large dimple on the bottom. Perhaps meant to be a candle holder?
