Description
This form was popularized in the late 1950s by the famous Murano, Italy maker Mandruzzato. This one is a giant heavy beauty. It is designed with a wider than usual top half. It is octagonal at the mouth that expands into a multi-sided block cut into faceted planes. This design catches the light thereby appearing differently depending on the setting. It is brilliant green sommerso glassmaking with yellow as the secondary color, then a thick clear crystal base. It catches light in all the right ways.
4 lbs / 1.85 kg of art glass. The edges are crisp and the crystal is very clear. It is 8¼ inches tall. Unmarked and undated.
There is a tiny flea bite on the mouth rim too small to photograph. There is a small chip on one of the faceted edges as seen in the photo. Priced accordingly.
