Description
Magnificent bold and graphic design on this fat lava glaze vessel. Manufactured by Lapid Pottery Works in Israel. The objects manufactured at Lapid were hand-painted, mostly by women, as piecework. In order to demonstrate how much money was due, each completed item was signed on the base by the worker. In this case, the piece is signed “Lapid Israel, S.” It measures 4½ inches tall. Mint condition. Late 1960s. Utility might be a bud vase, individual size decanter, gravy pitcher, syrup pitcher, or milk pitcher.
