Description
Mike McClellan is an artist residing in both California and here on Shelter Island. His forms are characterized by bold, sweeping forms, innovative use of colored stone, and the edgy balance between the weight of the rock and the air that flows through and around the negative spaces in his shapes. His influences are Hepworth, Brancusi, Arp, Moore and Noguchi. This piece is made from a solid block of honeycomb calcite and post-mounted to a black granite base. The light passing through the stone is remarkable. 12 inches tall.
