Original watercolor painting “The One That Makes Me Feel Like I’m At the Beach” by Shelter Island artist Leah Peeks, 2021. Peeks drew inspiration from the Washington D.C. Color School painters of the 1950s, especially Sam Gilliam, while she was living in Virginia. This artwork is distinctive because of the way the pattern responds to the viewer’s eye. A sense of movement, an awareness of the near-perfect but also not-perfect design. It is float mounted in a minimalist white glss wood frame faced with gallery acrylic. The overall framed size is 32×40 inches. This artwork may be displayed horizontally or vertically. Signed on the back.
