Description
From the series “The Four Elements: Water, Air, Fire & Earth.” published in the December 1937 Editions De La Revue Verve, Paris—the very first issue. Verve is a quite rare and special publication featuring specially commissioned midcentury modern art and essays. They were extremely well printed, with each color plate “tipped in” — a printing technique allowing different lithographic methods to be used for each artwork.
In this edition, the editors commissioned four artists to do each of the elements: Fernand Léger (water), Joan Miró (air), Abraham Rattner (fire) and Francisco Bores (earth).
Offered here is a reproduction made from the original lithograph, enlarged, and printed on heavy 100% cotton archival paper with an archival mat and handmade white wood frame. It measures 27 × 31 inches framed.
