Description
I first saw the 1950 film “Genèse” by Edgard Pillet at the Museum of Modern Art. It is a 10 minute sequence of entirely abstract animations set to atonal music. Pillet used cut paper on a light table and, using stop-motion, animated abstract compositions from simple to complex. It is a remarkable documentation of the artist’s mind at work. Offered here are select stills from the film in sequence. These images are 5 x 7 in a 12 x 22 inch white frame.
