This form was popularized in the late 1950s by the famous Murano, Italy maker Mandruzzato. This one is a beauty. It is smaller side as these go. It is square at the mouth then expands into a multi-sided block cut into faceted planes. This design catches the light thereby appearing differently depending on the setting. It is a rich amethyst colored crystal sommerso glassmaking with greenish blue as the secondary color, then a thick clear crystal base. It catches light in all the right ways.
1.5 lbs / .7 kg of art glass. The edges are crisp and the crystal is very clear. It is 6¼¼ inches tall. Unmarked and undated. No cracks, chips or fleabites: perfect.
