Description
“Flowers” is a stone lithograph, 1968 by Bernard Buffet and produced by the Collector’s Guild, NY. Certificate of Authenticity included. It is 18 x 21 inches as framed. The gray-brown grained MDF wood frame is new, with acid-free mat and backing. The print is 8.4 x 11.1 inches. Signed in the stone. Some age-related toning to the print is visible along the edges, as is typical with 1960s print mats containing acid.
Bernard Buffet, French (1928-1999) was a painter, lithographer, and etcher who studied at the Paris École des Beaux-Arts. Buffet defended representational art and was an active member of the anti-abstraction group L’homme Témoin (The Witness-Man). The work of Buffet is housed in the Tate Modern, London, Museum of Modern Art, New York, and a dedicated collection at the Bernard Buffet Museum in Japan. (Sotheby’s)
