Description
“Ode to Nelly” Original Watercolor. This artwork is distinctive because of the way the viewer’s eye responds to the pattern. There’s a sense of movement, an awareness of the near-perfect but also not-perfect design. This is an original watercolor painting by Shelter Island artist Leah Peeks on archival paper. It is float-mounted on acid-free board and framed in gray wood with a gallery acrylic face. The painting is 22 x 30 inches and the final frame is 31 x 41 inches. It may be mounted in the horizontal or the vertical orientation. Signed, titled, dated on the verso. Peeks drew inspiration from the Washington D.C. Color School painters of the 1950s, especially Sam Gilliam, while she was living in Virginia. The painting is shown here is both orientations as well as with another composition entitled “Ode to Nelly” our SKU #2019-326.
