Description
An original abstract watercolor “Gia” by Leah Peeks, Shelter Island. 12 × 15 inches in a vintage gold gilt frame.
We’re honored to have an excellent example of the abstract work of Leah Peeks, a Tennessee native living on Shelter Island. Leah drew inspiration from the Washington D.C. Color School painters of the 1950s, especially Sam Gilliam, while she was living in Virginia.
The title “Gia” is the name of the young gallery visitor who decided which way to orient the painting as it was being hung. Peeks says the orientation is up to the owner.
