Description
Offered here is a sculpture entitled “Maschinenmensch” created in 2020 by Michael Aron. Named for the infamous robot in the silent film “Metropolis.” An assemblage of antique foundry molds 14 inches tall.
Machine Age wooden foundry molds (1877-1920) are carved to form negative space for metal casting with handles to hold during production. The mold is pressed into sand, removed, then molten metal is poured into the resulting void. The molds are painted to protect the wood.
