Manufactured by Lapid Pottery Works in Israel. Magnificent bold and graphic design on this fat lava glaze vase. It measures 7¼ inches tall. Mint condition. Late 1960s.
Lapid’s art director was Elisabeth Cohen-Silberschmidt, a German immigrant. The objects manufactured at Lapid were hand-painted, mostly by women, as piecework. In order to demonstrate how much money was due, each completed item was signed on the base by the worker. In this case, the vase is signed “Lapid Israel by Iris”.
