Description
A wonderful example of antique Chinese pottery in a vivid Imperial Yellow glaze also known as Chicken Fat Yellow. This example does have very fine crazing overall. It comes with a wooden base. Unmarked, undated.
“Meiping” means plum vase. The plum shape vessel was first seen in the Tang dynasty (618–907) used for storage, burial rituals and wine transportation. The shape then emerged as a decorative and collectible item in the Song era and was popular through the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. This design has the neck style associated with Yuan Dynasty vessels.
