Magnificent bold and graphic design on this fat lava glaze serving platter by Lapid Pottery Works Israel. The objects manufactured at Lapid were hand-painted, mostly by women, as piecework. In order to demonstrate how much money was due, each completed item was signed on the base by the worker. In this case, the piece is signed “Lapid Israel D.” “D.” is Daria, one of their most prolific artists. It measures 11 inches wide. Mint condition. Late 1960s.
