The Romanian artist, cartoonist, and illustrator Saul Steinberg remains a hero of mine. He was a frequent contributor to The New Yorker magazine. Ten years after this Danish museum exhibit, Steinberg had a retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1978. The iconography of drafting, writing, penmanship, legal documents, and official stamps were a recurring theme in his work.
