23-343DC Käthe Kollwitz Exhibition Poster 33×24

This exhibition poster features a reproduction of a 1925 charcoal drawing by Käthe Kollwitz (German 1867-1945). The caption on the poster reads “3 Juni bis 12 August 1973 Käthe Kollwitz Zeichnungen und Graphik, Frankfurter Kunstverein Steinernes Haus am Römerberg.”

This original vintage poster was hand-carried back from Frankfurt in 1973. It was stored, never displayed. We have not seen this poster in any auction, book, or online representation. It is 33×24 inches including the bright red border. There is a small amount of distress on the right edge as shown in the photos. No tears or other damage.

The title of the original drawing is “Fahnen, Drei Fahnen, Darüber eine Nach Rechts Aufwärts Schwebende Nackte Männliche Gestalt (Flags, Three Flags, A Naked Male Figure Floating Above Them).” This work is typical of her Expressionist post-WWI style protesting the atrocities of war. It was recently sold at a Sotheby’s auction into a private collection.
