Robert Helsmoortel (Belgian, 1922-2007) studied at Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp. He created artwork for the World Expo 58 in Brussels, a wall sculpture at Kennedy Airport and the largest aluminum sculpture in the world for I.M. Pei. In 1967, he represented the U.S. at ‘Artists and Architecture’ in London alongside Andre Bloc, Pablo Picasso, Victor Vasarely, Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. He has work in collections worldwide including AT&T, Steelcase, American Airlines, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Whitney-Payson Collection, the Piaget Collection in Geneva and the Royal Collection in Brussels.
