Offered here is a series of abstract multi-color gravure/silkscreen lithographs printed by Mourlot, Paris in 1962. The title of the series is “Canicule (Heat Wave).” These works are by Orlando Pelayo, a Spanish painter and engraver. Each print is 8 × 10½ inches, matted in 4-ply acid-free museum board, matte gold aluminum frame, glass face— the outer dimension of the frame is 16 × 16 inches. These prints were part of a portfolio printed in an edition of 4,800. They are not signed. These are the original 1962 prints, not digital reproductions.

We recommend utilizing all eight to create a large arrangement approximately 6 feet × 3 feet as shown in the photo.

Orlando Pelayo Entrialgo (1920-1990) worked and exhibited mainly in France. He joined artists like Nicholas de Staël to exhibit under the group la nouvelle École de Paris in the late 1940s and early 1950s, preceding the Action Painting group including Pollack and deKooning. In 1984 he was appointed Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture. The Provincial Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias has a permanent exhibition of fifty paintings. Mourlot was the lithographer chosen by Leger, Picasso, Matisse, and other prominent European artists.
