24-113 Matisse Verve Blue Nude II 17 x 21

$255.00

Henri Matisse created the original gouache cut-outs in 1952. This image “Blue Nude II” was featured in the rare French art and literature revue Verve, issue 35/36 entitled “Last Works of Matisse: 1950-1954” (Matisse died in 1954). Verve’s editor Tériade gave Matisse printer’s ink samples that the artist used for his very first paper cut-outs. They collaborated often: Matisse created the cover for this and many other issues. Although it is an offset lithograph, it was printed with skill and is an accurate rendition of the original Verve page, with the usual verso text. 17½ × 21½ inches framed in black faux wood with acrylic glazing.
