“Toilers Of The Sea” Paint By Number original oil painting on canvas created using kit number 17BB distributed in 1969. It is based on Winslow Homer’s “Breezing Up.” It has 40 different paint colors. It was part of the Masterpiece Collection manufactured by Craft Master. The 27 x 21 inch white barnwood frame is new.

Paint by number kits are self-contained painting sets, designed to facilitate painting a pre-designed image. The user fills in a numbered section of the canvas, in a manner similar to a coloring book. The kits were invented in 1950 by Max S. Klein of Palmer Paint Co. in Detroit and Dan Robbins, a commercial artist.
