$495.00

Original 1925 poster: “After all – there is nothing like a good book!” by Jon O. Brubaker (1875-1953). 13 x 19 inches. Mounted to board. Discolored from sunlight, a few small blemishes, but still cool looking. This poster is in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

For reference: an un-faded original sold at Swann Galleries NY in February 2025 for $3,750.

“In 1919, at the urging of Franklin K. Mathiews, librarian of the Boy Scouts of America, Book Week was introduced to focus attention on the need for quality children’s books and the importance of childhood literacy. The poster for the first year, designed by Jessie Wilcox Smith, was reused through 1924, when the artist designed a second image. In 1925, Brubaker designed this image, which was also used in 1926. Brubaker also did work for the New York Central Lines. He was awarded the Art Directors Club gold medal for poster design for this image.” —Modern American 33, Book Week p. 5.
