Description
Larchmont Yacht Club Commodore Clarence Ashley Postley’s schooner Colonia (designed and built as a sloop in 1893 by Herreshoff to be a candidate in the 1893 America’s Cup) re-rigged as a schooner under the supervision of Archibald Cary Smith, who fitted her with a centerboard. She is pictured here on the last race of the Larchmont race week, which she won amidst the failure of her opponent the Emerald to start and a streak of other accidents. Photo 1897.
Offered here is a reproduction from the original newswire photograph—an archival pigment print in a handmade custom white wood frame with scratch-resistant acrylic. 16 × 16 inches framed.
