Description
Northforkers love this Southold Shelter Island map published in 1873 by F. W. Beers Atlas of Long Island, New York. Very detailed artwork that included landmarks, roads, streets and the names of property holders. Offered here is a gallery-quality archival pigment print on 100% cotton paper, matted in off-white, in a triple-mortised silvered wood frame. 22 × 30 inches framed. The original map was hand-colored to indicate the Village boundaries. Its title, in a wonderfully shaded font is “Southold and Shelter Island.”
Suffolk County, Long Island, New York
Towns depicted are Franklinville, Mattituck, Peconic, Southold, Greenport, East Marion, Orient, Oysterponds, Robins Island, Plum Island, Shelter Island—all along Peconic Bay with Long Island Sound to the North. Additionally there’s an inset featuring a detail of Greenport Village.
Shelter Island Map
We created this piece specifically for a young couple who, while visiting Shelter Island, got engaged. They requested a memento of their time here on the North Fork.
