Description
Josef Albers spent his adult life painting, documenting and writing about color in all of its variety and surprises. This work from 1957 is entitled Homage to the Square.
Offered here is an offset reproduction of the original painting at a reduced size. It was printed in Germany on 100 lb. wove finish uncoated lithographic paper by Walther König. It is in a white acid-free mat, gallery glass face, and a slim white wood frame that measures 16¾ × 16¾ inches.
Albers (1888-1976) was one of the most influential Bauhaus graduates and instructors who brought his modern art and education concepts to the United States after leaving Germany when Hitler rose to power. He first taught at Black Mountain College, NC, then at Yale.
