Description
This vase design is one of the first biomorphic Mid-Century Modern glass designs. It was unveiled at the 1937 World’s Fair. It was designed by Alvar Aalto, the world-famous Finnish architect and industrial designer. It is in MoMA’s permanent collection. This crystal vase is mouth-blown into a mold and hand-polished. It is manufactured by Iittala, Finland.
While it is still available today at the MoMa design store, this one is a hard-to-find much older version with the original label still intact. This is the largest size made at 6 high x 7.25 wide and 7 deep.
