Description
Magnificent bold and graphic design on this fat lava glaze plate from Lapid Israel. Brilliant psychedelic abstract design. Manufactured by Lapid Pottery Works in Israel. The art director was Elisabeth Cohen-Silberschmidt, a German immigrant. The objects manufactured at Lapid were hand-painted, mostly by women, as piecework. Mint condition. Late 1960s. Signed “Hand painted by Miriam Lapid Israel.” It has holes on the back for displaying it on the wall however the glaze filled in one of the holes so it would need to be opened up in order to function. 8.5 x 8.5 inches.
