Description
Lapid Israel Hand Painted Large Tapered Vase: Magnificent bold and graphic design on this fat lava glaze vase from Lapid Israel. Brilliant. Manufactured by Lapid Pottery Works in Israel. The art director was Elisabeth Cohen-Silberschmidt, a German immigrant. The objects manufactured at Lapid were hand-painted, mostly by women, as piecework. In order to demonstrate how much money was due, each completed item was signed on the base by the worker.
In this case, the vase is signed “Hand painted by Yehudith Lapid Israel.” It measures 9 inches tall and 5 inches wide. Very heavy. White interior. Mint condition with one insignificant glaze skip. Late 1960s.
