Monumental Lapid Israel Splatter Glaze Teapot. Magnificent bold and graphic design on this fat lava glaze teapot from Lapid Israel. Brilliant. The art director was Elisabeth Cohen-Silberschmidt, a German immigrant. The objects manufactured at Lapid were hand-painted, mostly by women, as piecework. In order to demonstrate how much money was due, each completed item was signed on the base by the worker.
In this case, the vase is signed “Ida.” It measures 8 inches tall (without handle) and 8 inches wide. Very heavy. Clean interior. Late 1960s. Reed handle is intact.
