Description
Morris Rosenfeld is the leading yachting photographer of the 20th Century. He captured artistic images that convey the real feeling of large vessel sailing. His son Stanley published a survey of his work in 1958 entitled “The Story of American Yachting Told in Pictures.” It was brought to my attention by Anders Langendal, a local boat builder.
Offered here is a bookplate from the original volume. It is in a vintage hardwood gilt frame that measures 14 x 18 inches. It depicts Sir Thomas Lipton’s Shamrock in its 1899 America’s Cup Race. Shamrock was a 129-foot sloop designed by Fife of Fairlie. She lost to J. Pierpont Morgan’s Columbia.
