Description
Offered here is an offset lithograph after the very early painting by Josef Albers. Its title is “In Open Air” and it is dated 1936. It is superbly printed in Germany on 100 lb. wove finish uncoated lithographic paper by Walther König. It is in a white acid-free mat, gallery non-glare glass face, and a slim silver metal frame that measures 16.75 x 16.75 inches.
Albers (1888-1976) was one of the most influential Bauhaus graduates and instructors who brought his modern art and education concepts to the United States after leaving Germany when Hitler rose to power. He first taught at Black Mountain College, NC, then at Yale.
